A Case of Spinal Intramedullary Cysticercosis

Abstract
Many cases of cerebral cysticercosis have been reported but spinal cysticercosis still remained rare.
Our case of spinal one was intramedullary lesion situated conus medullaris.
Evidence of intracranial spreading was not found in this case.
Almost paraplegic 54 year old male patient was admitted with associated problem of urinary and fecal retention. Only the slightest leg movement was possible.
Pantopaque lumbar myelography disclosed complete block of the dye column on the Ll-L2 interspace.
Complete removal of cyst and partial removal of adjacent granuloma granulomatous wall was followed by remarkable neurological improvement.
The patient could walk himself and void & defecate voluntarily. It was believed that granulomatous wall surrounding cyst should not been attempted for complete removal because which were hardly adherent to the neural elements of the spinal cord.
It seems likely that granulmatous wall will be expected to absorb after complete removal of the cysticercus cellulosae.
